About DJ Kennington
DJ Kennington realized his biggest racing dream in 2010. In the 17th year of the Kennington and Castrol partnership, the #17 Castrol Edge Dodge driver claimed the NASCAR Canadian Tire Series Championship. And while many would take that as a time to look back and reflect that’s not how DJ Kennington works. The Castrol Edge Dodge team of course took time to celebrate their accomplishment but that only made them hungrier for more success for year eighteen together.
This season DJ Kennington and his team approach the grueling summer schedule that will take them to twelve events from coast to coast knowing what it takes to reach the top of the mountain and achieve the ultimate triumph. Each member of the Castrol team is a professional is every sense. They also know that the competition will be tougher in 2011 and that’s what motivates them.
Most days you will find Kennington working alongside his father, engine builder and most importantly best friend Doug Kennington in race shop. The rest of the Castrol Edge Dodge team is equally dedicated in their preparation for each race weekend. While Kennington is behind the wheel he is in constant communication with his Crew Chief Dave Wight or “Wighty” as everyone calls him. “Wighty” has risen quickly to the leadership position within the team and is like a brother to DJ. He is a tireless worker and he along with Kennington can usually be found at the track discussing the handling characteristics of the car and race strategy.
Kennington’s friendly smile and manner make him one of the most popular drivers with officials, competitors and of course the race fans. DJ is extremely proud to represent Castrol Canada and their long term association together.
2010 was a remarkable year for DJ Kennington and the Castrol Edge Dodge team as they set a series record with five oval track wins in a single season on their way to the title. Now with the 2011 racing season underway the team accepts the challenge to go out and repeat as series champions.
